Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few of the common questions about the Avoid Deny Defend™ program and how it can help you to be better prepared for an active shooter situation or any act of violence.
1. We already are using another method for civilian response. Why change now?
The Avoid | Deny | Defend™ program provides guidance through concepts that align with many current corporate and private sector procedures such as avoiding dangerous situations. Corporate leaders have chosen Avoid | Deny | Defend™ because they don't believe that some of the other training videos are the most appropriate to show employees due to graphic messaging content and recommendation to “fight.” Avoid | Deny | Defend™ addresses a variety of locations including small offices, large rooms, and open retail store environment.
2. Will the awareness campaign scare our employees, members, community?
The campaign is designed to provide all civilians with knowledge that will empower and instill confidence to survive an active shooter attack whether at work, church, the movie theater or anywhere else they may be. It is not intended to frighten, but to empower and strengthen the ability to survive.
Avoid | Deny | Defend™ is designed as an awareness tool that will empower and instill confidence to civilians of all ages and abilities, helping them understand that “What You Do Matters™” in an active shooter event.
